Still remember sometime ago I had seen Ex Machina, which has to do with subject of Human Computer Interaction (HCI). This one of movie science fiction is also very entertaining. Here, I'm going to give you a review from Ex Machina.

Ava (Alicia Vikander) is a humanoid robot who has amazing intelligence
capabilities. Ex-Machina depicts the
enormous influence of artificial intelligence on the present human life and the
future.
Evaluation :
A programmer named
Caleb Smith (Domhnall Gleeson) who works for a Bluebook Company, he won a
competition and deserved a special prize that was spending a week in a closed
place along with a CEO named Nathan (Oscar Isaac). Nathan’s house turned out to
be very luxurious and sophisticated and surrounded by an astonishing sight. But
Caleb just found out that there he had to go through “Turing Test” against Nathan’s
robot named Ava.
It’s said that Ava was very intelligent and able to communicate
perfectly like a human being. The various questions that Caleb was using on Ava
to prove that the robot was more advanced than Nathan’s. Physically, Caleb felt
drawn to Ava’s face until the emergence of a own emotional bond between them.
That’s where Caleb’s wish was to free Ava from the prison of Nathan’s, which is
the special room that Ava lives in.
Summary :
I think this is an
inspirational movie which can motivate people to create technology in robots,
but it can be used to help people in relief work. Ex-Machina is a great science-fiction movie. The script writer is successful to bring a set of
interesting conflicts which make the plot of this movie become alive. It’s so
much mystery that the audience will be curious as to what it might be like. The
end of Ex Machina has an interesting
and difficult plot. Well, yes, the ending is beyond my expectations.
Regarding the subject of Human Computer
Interaction (HCI), in this movie we can see a very modern user interface, like
the time Caleb received the email message in his computer, CCTV in every room, Id
card to open up Nathan’s house, until there’s a room light sensor when we’re in
it. It’s evident that there are many uses for sophisticated technology. The most
important interface is the machine or the robot.
In Human Computer Interaction (HCI) it consists of various
disciplines, like Computational Linguistics, Sociology, Organizational
Psychology, Cognitive Science, Ergonomics, Mathematics, etc. In terms of
software engineering, it can create an effective program, a friendly user so
that it can produce a machine or a system that is according to the user’s
desire. A robot like Ava has been programmed to do what humans do, such as
walking, sitting, and sleeping. From the domain of Computational Linguistics,
Ava has the ability to speak and can think and get familiar with her speech. Besides,
Ava has an art soul that can make a picture of what of what she sees. As a
Organizational Psychology, Ava also had the emotional equivalent of human
contact with Caleb in the movie.
In my opinion, the important point that can be taken from Ex Machina is humans dan technology are
interconnected. But the only thing we need to focus on is the terrible thing
when the technology that we make is over the limit. It can be dangerous for
humans if human life is controlled by technology. Therefore, it is good to be
careful of technology, such as for positive things. Overall, Ex Machina is good for everyone to watch.
So, hopefully it will be useful.
